OK… I know what you must be thinking… conquer anxiety with kindness“??? 

REALLY???

Now before you decide I’m off my rocker and click away from my blog give me a chance to explain.

Have you ever been on the phone trying to get some assistance from a customer service agent who isn’t properly trained or is misinformed? You know what you want and the only thing in your way is this employee who believes they’re doing the right thing but are unknowingly messing things up.

It can be really frustrating!

You know this person is just doing their job and (probably) aren’t maliciously trying to tick you off but it’s still so easy to blame… attack and feel like they are the enemy.

If you take the approach of demanding your rights and fighting for what’s yours it causes inner resistance, anxiety and frustration and in the end does this get you anywhere (positive) with the person on the other end of the phone?

Ummm… NO!

Right?

Another option is to be kind to this person (even if they’re clueless) and recognize they are just doing their job the best they know how and probably are truly trying to help you even if it doesn’t seem like it.

This approach leaves one feeling peaceful inside, kind, accepting and gracious.

Even if your issue goes unresolved at least if you chose the second approach you will hang up with peace inside.

Conquer Anxiety With Kindness!

Anxiety and fear are hard wired into who we are as human beings. They are designed to help and protect us. They are not the enemy and really are trying to help us.

If we allow anxiety and fear to get out of check in our life than it can run rampant with our feelings and emotions but to no fault of its own.

Once we realize we are living with relentless anxiety we can fight it like a dragon to be slain… causing resistance, fear, anxiety, division and a myriad of other negative emotions OR…

We can look at it through kind eyes… recognize it is a part of who we are and that it needs some guidance and to be reined in…. leaving us feeling accepting, at peace and one with ourself.

When you learn how to ride a bike you teach and train yourself through instruction and practice… try the same approach with teaching and training your mind and emotions regarding the anxiety in your life.

Look at the anxiety in your life as you would a misguided child who means well.

I’m sure you’ve realized by now fighting does not work at making it go away… why not try a different approach?
