Anxiety and Indifference…Not a Great Combination.

anxiety and indifference not a great combinationBecause of indifference, one dies before one actually dies.
Elie Wiesel

Awhile back I wrote a post Anxiety Have You Captive? where I asked the question…

Would you allow a random stranger to come into your house uninvited and start rummaging through your personal items and messing things up?

Pretty sure most of us would agree the above situation would not be acceptable and if it did happen the battle would be on to rectify things.

Well relentless anxiety is an un-welcomed house guest in our minds and emotions and one who definitely makes a huge mess without our consent.

Anxiety and Indifference…Not a Great Combination.

What makes matters worse is since anxiety can be a tough visitor to remove many overtime begin to accept it’s presence by allowing indifference to join the party.

The combination of anxiety and indifference is deadly because although the host doesn’t appreciate anxiety overstaying its welcome he has lost all desire, motivation and energy to do anything about it.

Some time ago a good friend came by for a visit and he ended up sharing some struggles he’s been having in his life. He mentioned having anxiety, fear, depression and feeling completely messed up.

One very positive thing I noticed within my friend as he was sharing was this incredible inner turmoil and although inner turmoil is painful and exhausting it is a sign of battle.

My friend was very honest about all that was taking place inside of his head and heart and he most certainly didn’t come across as one who had become apathetic and indifferent.

At one point, to his surprise, I told him I was excited for him as I could see within him the determination and faith to win this battle and come to a place of inner calmness and peace in his life.

In life’s greatest challenges it will often appear like we are losing ground but as long as the inner battle is raging it shows us the signs we are not willing to throw in the towel anytime soon.

A winning attitude towards life’s struggles doesn’t necessarily make the situation any less difficult but it provides hope for a victorious end to the battle.

Anxiety and indifference are deadly combination… don’t allow yourself to “die before you actually die”.
